The comp background is always transparent. Almost everyone that I have helped with this kind of problem in more than 20 years of contributing to AE forums either didn't understand that you can't see transparency in a media player or they tried to create their own custom render settings. The marked switch is probably on (blue) at the bottom of your Composition window. In this tutorial you will learn how to to setup your render queue and optimize your setting to export an alpha channel. Until you have studied video formats and codecs you should not attempt to create your own custom settings. Learn how to export a transparent background in after effects of your motion graphics and videos. Import the rendered file into any NLE or back into After Effects and you will see the transparency and be able to measure the values of the alpha channel using the info panel. The background will always appear to be black. Media players do not support transparency. This leads most folks just getting started in video production to think that something is wrong with the render or that there is some kind of bug. When you look at the clip in any media player you will see a black background because NO media players will display a transparent background. The video will have transparency if the comp has transparency. There is a Lossless With Alpha preset in the Output Module of the Render Cue. That's how a professional would create an animated gif using After Effects. Please don't take offense. Using After Effects, if the frame rate was only 10 fps you would have 600 frames. I had left the floor plane in, removed it now and has fixed the problem. Thanks Mylenium, youve tipped me in the right direction. Using this technique you can create a 1-minute long animated gif that pauses on 6 different images for 10 seconds and has a 10 frame transition between frames that only contains 66 frames. From the looks of your screenshot theres definiutely some sort of floor or background object thats obstructing the view and thus nixes the transparency. You can have that frame last for 30 seconds if you like. Inside Photoshop you can set any frame for an animated gif to any duration. Let me talk about the no duplicate frames. I don't even think the option should exist. Use the Photoshop File menu to export an animated gif for the web using the Legacy option. Exporting an animated Gif directly from AE is not only inefficient, but you lose all control over color and dithering. Using this workflow you get the best color control, the smallest file size, and you have complete control. My issue is - When I render the project and then upload it to streamlabs OBS - the black background is still there. Here is a screenshot of my after effects screen with black ground and the second image is with trans grid ON.
